Let's do a blog! Also, "Thank you!"


I mean...let's just jump into it shall we? This is a blog. But you already knew that! My hope is that I can use this little corner of online "space", "cyberspace"...if you will, to connect with all of you out there to share any announcements, tips, tutorials, random musings, and artwork among other interesting content. So please come and check back often, and I'll try my absolute very best to keep things engaging and interesting over here!

For my first post, I think I'll briefly touch on what is still a very new experience for me as someone traversing the unforgiving landscape that is entrepreneurship. And by that I mean my first time running a booth at the local Comic Con here in Winnipeg! The Central Canadian Comic Convention (or "C4" as it is so cleverly abbreviated to) is an annual event in the city that brings together artists, writers, craft-makers, retail vendors, cosplayers, gamers, LARPers, celebrity guests, and just anyone who is a "kid-at-heart" to enjoy three days of all sorts of Geek Culture goodness. I have attended once before, but this year was my first year participating as a vendor.

I should note that this isn't my first time as a vendor in this style of market, I have participated in two others earlier in the fall of this year - but I am still relatively new to the "Artist Alley" scene, and every event of this type feels like a brand new learning experience. At one weekend in length, certainly C4 has been the most demanding vending experience I've had thus far in terms of preparation, time, physical and mental endurance, and overall effort. That said, I feel like I've learned a lot, and overall it was a pretty fun experience, and for the first time in a long time, I've felt "at home" working alongside (and competing against, if we're honest) people I consider "kindred spirits". I hope to do it again next year!

And I've posted this all over my social media already, but I really want to give a huge, HUGE thank you to all of you who came by and showed your support! Whether you bought a print or two, took a business card, helped yourself to a lollipop, smiled at one of my prints as you traveled along Artist Alley, had a bit of a chat with me, or any combination of these things...I am EXTREMELY grateful for all of it!

I really love making art and being able to share it with all of you, and your support helps me to be able to do just that! So seriously everyone, thank you - I can't express that enough!

I'll be participating in some upcoming shows in the new year - Don't worry, you can be sure that I'll be letting you all know about them as they draw closer :)

In the meantime, I'll be working on some new projects and commissions, and whatever else I can!

And remember, the Midnight Sun never sets...
